Byron Ballet is the community ballet company of the Northern Rivers. Inspiring audiences with quality arts entertainment at an affordable price, it is committed to artistic excellence and aims to recreate masterpieces from the past as well as new innovative contemporary works. In the future we are aiming to offer dance education and community outreach programmes in disadvantage areas.
Byron Ballet creates many opportunities for talented dancers and produces collaborative networks among dance professionals, pre-professionals, and the wider community.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Based on William Shakespeare’s most popular comedy, this ballet portrays the adventures of two young couples in love. Woodland fairies create mischief causing a comedy of errors for the star-crossed lovers. The King and Queen are also quarrelling as Oberon the KIng is jealous of Queen’s new love, a human child!
Though as Puck knows love makes fools of us all!
Performed to the ethereal and aristocratic music of Felix Mendelssohn.

Rite of Spring
Byron Ballet’s ‘Rite of Spring’ offers a journey of suspense
and sensual beauty that will appeal to people of all ages.
Stravinsky’s musical score was to become one of the most influential works of the 20th century.
Nijinsky’s original avant garde choreography along with Starvinsky’s
shocking music caused outrage at the Paris premiere in 1913.
It was the beginning of the modern era and one of the most famous
nights in dance history – music, dance and art would never be the same!

Peter and the Wolf
Byron Ballet’s original Peter and the Wolf production is like no other.
Complete with live narrator, it journeys into the wolfen psyche through a wolf-pack dream,
finishing with a playful visit to the circus where the wolf and duck become the best of friends.
Coppelia
Coppelia is a comedic story about love and mistaken identity. The local toymaker Dr Coppelius
makes life size dolls and his latest creation is a beautiful doll called Coppelia.
A young villager Franz sees Coppelia sitting up on the balcony and from afar mistakes her for a young woman.
Franz parades and flirts, blowing kisses to Coppelia in the village square. His fiance Swanhilda, however,
happens to be standing close by on the other side of the town square and she decides to make
a playful plan of revenge with her girlfriends.

makes it one of the most popular ballets.
It is a coming of age story about a young girl Clara and the
dream that leads her to faraway lands.
Paquita
Paquita’ is a Spanish celebratory ballet that highlights classical technical skill along with the strong
Spanish style Created by in 1881 by Marius Petipa, today this piece is considered one of the major cornerstones of the traditional classical ballet repertory and is staged by many ballet companies around the world.

Les Sylphides
Les Sylphides is a white ballet from the dreamy romantic era
wth sublime music by Chopin and original choreography by Michel Fokine.
This ballet will take you on a mystical journey as a young poet dreams of dancing in the moonlight
with ethereal sylphs (air spirits). Elegant dancers waft and waltz through various moods
ending with a bright and uplifting finale.
In 1908 the dancing legends Anna Pavlova and Nijinsky performed
in the most well known premier in Russia with the famous Ballet Russe.
Bolero
 An original contemporary work celebrating the beauty, sensuality and strength of the feminine.
This ballet is a rite of passage for young women,  performed to the hypnotic and cathartic music of Maurice Ravel. Choreographer – Yvonne Hall. Lead solo assistant – Silvia Magnani. Â
Swan Lake – Act 3
One of the most loved story ballets performed to exquisite music by the master composer Tchaikovsky.
During Act 3 Prince Siegfried is expected to choose his consort, though his heart secretly belongs to Odette.
The evil Von Rothbart and his seductive daughter Odile (who strangely resembles Odette)
cause him to fall under her spell and break his vow of fidelity to Odette.
